My WEIGHT-LOSS, popsicle recipe

Hi Mungbeans, 

 

This recipe is one of my FAVOURITE summer-time snacks that won't cause weight-gain, acne or cellulite like many other conventional ice-blocks will!

They are super easy to make & they taste delicious (believe me, its hard to stop at one)!! There are a few ways to make them and i'm going to share with you a few tips on how to change them up without losing their amazing nutrient value or adding in any extra un-wanted calories!!

 

So first, my superfood ingredients:

*Acai berry powder 

*Hydrolysed collagen powder

*Green tea or Matcha 

*Chia seeds

 

Acai berries - I'm sure you have all heard of it, Right? Its a superfood,  jam-packed with antioxidants & has been shown to speed up the metabolism and help people lose weight (Hell yes!). It may also improve cholesterol levels, clear your skin, improve heart health, boost cognitive function & stabilise energy levels all while possibly protecting you from cancer. PLUS it tastes delicious & looks ridiculously pretty!!!

 

Hydrolysed collagen powder- I wrote all about collagen in my last blog post, 'Why I drink Bone Broth & collagen everyday' (check it outtttt) but a little run down on why I put it in these amazing ice-blocks is for its creamy texture & cellulite eliminating properties, while it also tightens the skin! Plus its a great protein source so it helps to keep you fuller for longer (Yippee)!

 

Green tea or Matcha- Green tea has SO many health benefits! Fat-loss, antioxidants, longevity, improved skin, energy, boosts metabolism, curbs cravings, improved cognitive function, reduced risk of developing type 2 diabetes (just to name a few). I use green tea & Matcha in two different ways, one as a green tea base and the other as a an added superfood!

 

Chia seeds - These little babies are FILLING! They really do curb my cravings & keep me full for AGES as they are full of fibre and very nutrient dense. They are easy to digest & contain lots of fibre to improve bowel function & motility! They certainly help to fill that 3pm snack-hole many of us fall into (guilty)!

 

To make them you will need:

*A blender 

*Ice-block moulds 

 

Ok so this is my fruity sensation :)

- 1 cup of organic cloudy apple juice (Juicy Isle is a quality brand)

- 1 cup of cooled green tea (brew organic tea bags and let the tea steep for 5 mins, remove bag and let liquid cool) 

- 1/2 a cup of organic mango

- 1/2 a cup of mixed berries

- 1 teaspoon of Acai berry powder

- 1 tablespoon of hydrolysed collagen 

- 2 tablespoons of pre-soaked chia seeds in water

 

Method:

- Blend apple juice, cooled green tea, mango, mixed berries (optional- you can also leave them whole if you like it CHUNKY), Acai & collagen in the blender & blend until smooth. 

- Add chia seeds to blended mix & stir through

- Pour mix into moulds

- Freeze over night

- Enjoy! They are the perfect dessert or 3pm snack!

 

My green goodness :)

- 1 cup of organic cloudy apple juice (Juicy Isle is a quality brand)

- 1 cup of cooled green tea (brew organic tea bags and let the tea steep for 5 mins, remove bag and let liquid cool) 

- 1 teaspoon of organic, good quality, Matcha powder 

- 2 tablespoons of pre-soaked chia seeds in water

- 1 teaspoon of organic, raw honey

 

Method:

- Blend all ingredients together in a blender

- Pour into moulds

- Freeze overnight 

- Enjoy!!!!!

 

NATUROPATHIC TIP:

- Experiment with different tea bases (White tea, jasmine tea etc)

- If you are vegan, just omit the collagen powder.

- If you like greens, add in a teaspoon of Spirulina. 

- If you really like sweet food, add in some organic, raw honey or stevia to taste!

 

P.S check your teeth after each ice-block as chai seeds, berry & Acai all like to hide in the front!! Thank me later....
